| HARRASSOWITZ has been supplying North American music scores for almost 15 years.
|
After a pilot program in 2009, HARRASSOWITZ has been supplying New Title Announcements for North American scores for almost 15 years now. This was followed by the introduction of an Approval Plan program for North American scores.
Our music staff are amongst the most knowledgeable and efficient in the industry. All are certified music dealers and/or musicologists and the majority have many years’ information supply chain experience.
HARRASSOWITZ invites libraries to expand their own approval plan profiles to include music scores published in North America. As part of the profiling process, HARRASSOWITZ's expert Music staff will assist you in crafting a quality profile that best suits your library's unique collection needs.

| Fokus for Music, a suite of features especially designed to support music librarians.
|
Our systems are developed for and by librarians and as such we've been listening to our music customers. Fokus, the HARRASSOWITZ system for acquisition and management of scholarly resources has been enhanced with many features especially designed to support music librarians:
- On the search bar you are now able to switch to the Fokus Music Search which automatically limits your search result to music scores, music books, and other music related material.
- The search has been enhanced by an Advanced Search which now allows you to search for titles with very specific criteria, e.g. collected editions or certain instrumentations.
- When searching, Fokus will automatically search for Spelling Variations of the same search term, this includes different spellings of composer names as well as translations for common instrumentations: a search for "clarinet" will also find titles which only contain the German "Klarinette".
- The search result has been enhanced with two new filters for Authors/Composers and our HARRASSOWITZ Diversity Criteria.
- In cases where different instrumentations are available for the same title, you will now find those conveniently listed within the Title Options table, simply click on the "Show more options" link when available.
- On the Approval Plans tab you now have interactive access to our extensive List of 20th and 21st centuries composers. This includes information about birth dates, HARRASSOWITZ diversity criteria and received awards.
- Last but not least, you are now able to retrieve Real-time Management Reports for your firm orders and approval plans. This also includes the possibility to request a Not on Order List for DEI material. The management reports can be found within the Collection Analysis section.

| List of 20th and 21st Centuries Composers
|

| HARRASSOWITZ has recently revised its list of 20th and 21st Centuries Composers.
|
This updated list is now being used as the basis for selecting materials for your contemporary Music Scores Approval Plan.
The HARRASSOWITZ 20th and 21st Centuries Composers List has been in existence for more than 50 years. Today, more than 4,000 composers are noted. The list is continuously updated and is both a comprehensive listing of contemporary composers and an invaluable resource for collection development.
Some changes to your approval plan may occur as new composers have been added to the list while others have been moved up a category due to their growing prominence in the music scene. A list indicating the changes made from last year is available upon request. However, if you are currently using a self-defined list of composers, there will be no changes to your plan.
The list of contemporary composers is accessible in Fokus, the HARRASSOWITZ system for acquisition and management of scholarly resources, under "Composers" in the "Approval Plans" section. The list now contains diversity classifications as well as awards won, such as Michael Holober receiving the Andrew Imbrie Award in Music from the American Academy of Arts and Letter in 2022.
