HARRASSOWITZ & OA Switchboard Partnership

HARRASSOWITZ, a leading provider of scholarly periodicals and e-resources for academic libraries, is pleased to announce it is a Certified Partner of OA Switchboard, a safe place for publication metadata which simplifies the sharing of information between publishers, institutions and funders. This partnership will enable HARRASSOWITZ and OA Switchboard to further explore opportunities for integration of publishing data in Fokus, the HARRASSOWITZ system for acquisition and management of scholarly resources. Merging subscription data with detailed information about their institution's publication output will provide libraries with a more comprehensive overview and help them in their internal reporting efforts.

Monika Schneider, Director of Publisher Relations at HARRASSOWITZ:
“We are delighted to announce our collaboration with OA Switchboard, a partnership that embodies our commitment to excellence and innovation. By joining forces, we are able to offer our clients unparalleled support and resources as they become experts in their institution's open access initiatives. This collaboration will enable our clients to lead the way in promoting open access and academic transparency and strengthen our shared commitment to the advancement of knowledge and discovery. Combining HARRASSOWITZ’s impeccable record keeping of subscription history together with reliable data about publishing at an institution will allow us to even further support libraries in their budget planning and provide deeper and richer analyses.“

Yvonne Campfens, Executive Director OA Switchboard:
“The OA Switchboard standardized protocol allows for the transparent exchange of data about OA publications, designed to operate and integrate with all stakeholder systems. We are very pleased that HARRASSOWITZ supports the concept and initiative, and will enable their clients to benefit from ingesting relevant metadata in their established systems to enhance efficiency and transparency."

HARRASSOWITZ looks forward to expanding its cooperation with OA Switchboard as the global market transitions from subscription-based reading to contractually-based Open Access publishing all the while continuing to provide gold standard service to libraries, publishers, and consortia world-wide. HARRASSOWITZ will also participate on the OA Switchboard Advisory Group, consisting of individuals and representatives of stakeholder groups who contribute by expertise and/or financial donation.
