Bicentenary for Clara Schumann and Siemens-Prize for Rebecca Saunders
|
In 2019 the musical world celebrated the 200th birthday of Clara Schumann (1819-1896) and put this 19th-century musical superwoman into the spotlight. In the same year the British composer Rebecca Saunders (*1967) has become the first female composer to be awarded the €250,000 Ernst von Siemens Music prize, known as the Nobel prize for music and given for lifelong service.
In 2019, HARRASSOWITZ included more than 700 new editions of works by female composers within the HARRASSOWITZ New Title Announcements for Music scores.
