Version 2.0 of Parker Library on the Web Now Available Through Open-Access

HARRASSOWITZ sends congratulations to Stanford University and Corpus Christi College on the release of Parker on the Web 2.0 that went live on January 10, 2018

Parker Library on the Web is a collection of high-resolution digital images representing almost 200,000 manuscript pages in the world-famous Parker Library, a peerless collection of medieval manuscript materials fundamental to scholarship across the humanities. It is the product of the collaboration between Stanford University, Corpus Christi College, Cambridge and the Cambridge University Library, with generous support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and additional support from the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation. Version 1.0 of Parker Library on the Web was released on October 1, 2009.

With the 2.0 release, access to Parker on the Web will no longer require an institutional site license but will be an open access platform governed by a Creative Commons BY-NC license. The website itself has been entirely restyled and optimized for mobile devices as well as fixed-location computing. It is also fully compatible with the International Image Interoperability Framework (IIIF). For further information, please refer to the Press Release.

It was a pleasure for HARRASSOWITZ to support the Parker Library project as exclusive world-wide distributor and agent for Parker Library on the Web and by offering services that helped generate additional funding for Version 2.0.

Any questions or comments about Parker Library on the Web 2.0 should as of now be directed to Parker Library on the Web-contacts at Stanford University and Corpus Christi College.

If you are attending UKSG 2018 in Glasgow, please join HARRASSOWITZ for a presentation of the newly designed version of Parker Library on the Web and the collaboration history of this remarkable project.
