Jacob Böhme (1575–1624), honored by Hegel as the "first German philosopher", ranks among the outstanding thinkers of the early modern era and is considered a critical pioneer of European Enlightenment. The writings of the Christian mystic had a lasting effect on philosophy in Germany, particularly around 1800.
|
For the first time, this new edition of Jacob Böhme's works offers all of his writings and letters, handed down in autographs or handwritten copies, compiled in historical and critical context. The original manuscripts are provided with a synoptic transcription, and all other relevant text media are available in digitized form.
According to the publisher, “Each volume also contains explanatory texts describing the development, dissemination and impact of the work as well as an annotation of passages and indices”.
