We would like to draw your attention to the newly available online version of Historisches Wörterbuch der Philosophie (ISBN: 978-3-7965-3736-3) by Schwabe Verlag.
Historisches Wörterbuch der Philosophie (HWPh) was created in the period from 1971 to 2007 by more than 1500 field experts and is one of the most comprehensive, important, and successful publication projects of the German-speaking humanities of recent times. In contrast to other dictionaries or encyclopaedias, the HWPh is not based on the history of philosophical ideas or problems but on the history of philosophical concepts. The 12 text volumes and one index volume of the dictionary contain 17144 columns and around 6000 articles and include both origins and genesis of 3670 philosophical concepts as well as their changes in meaning and function from their first occurrence until today. To illustrate specific philosophical concepts in the context of the entire academic system, terms from related disciplines are also listed – theology, psychology, pedagogy, sociology, history and art history, politics, legal studies, medicine, and natural sciences. In addition, more than 500 corrigenda from the print edition were rectified in the online edition.
The online version is currently available as a one-time purchase with no additional hosting fees and without DRM restrictions. The price is based on the number of FTEs
Access is via IP authentication with scholarly sharing rights. MARC records are available.
